IWA beats BSH during tourney

POWHATAN—The Varsity Isle of Wight Academy soccer team beat Blessed Sacrament Hugenot Wednesday afternoon in Virginia Commonwealth Conference tournament action.

As the number one seed, IWA played the first game of the day against fourth seed BSH and came away with a 5-0 victory.

Scoring for the Chargers with one goal a piece was Michael Mullen, Josh Weihe and Dylan Poe with a penalty kick and Justin Cobb netted two goals.

Weihe also provided two assists, with Cobb and Corey Holleman providing one each.

“These kids were very motivated,” said Coach Caren Moore.

IWA plays against Fuqua School at 4 p.m. Friday, as the tournament continues.
