SHS soccer continues winning trend

EMPORIA—The Southampton High School soccer team defeated Southside District opponent Greensville High School 3-1 on Monday.

It was the third win in the last four matches for the Indians.

Wally Le opened the scoring in the first half on a pass from Alex Dunlow. Dunlow was second to score on a free kick with an assist by Kevin Watford. Late in the first half, Tyler Grant put the game out of reach for the Eagles when he scored on a pass from Dunlow.

The Indians were up 3 to 0 at the end of the half.

“It was a dominant performance by the varsity team,” said SHS Coach Scott Edwards. “We controlled the match and only allowed three shots, each from distance.”

Goalie Nathan Johnson had three saves in the match.

 

In JV action:

The Indians won 2-1, Cole Jarratt and Jamal Hurt each had a goal for the Indians.
