Elizabeth City State University Assistant Head Football Coach Willie Gillus Jr. has been named the head coach for Southampton High School.

Gillus replaces Wes Griffith, who resigned after three seasons at the helm.

A 1988 Norfolk State University graduate, Gillus has coached at Elizabeth State for seven seasons. An Emporia native, he played quarterback for NSU and was the head coach there for two seasons.
