TA boys fall to 9-4 in VCC

FARMVILLE—The Tidewater Academy boys’ basketball team lost 55-50 against host Fuqua School in a Virginia Commonwealth Conference game on Tuesday.

“We played hard, we just ran out of gas,” said TA Coach Walter Westbrook.

TA led 29-20 at the half and 44-41 at the end of the third quarter. Fuqua took the lead with three minutes left in the game.

Leaders for the Warriors were junior Elante Drew and senior Hunter Haywood with 14 points each, and six and four rebounds, respectively, and senior Marqual Saunders added 13 points.

The Warriors fell to 9-4 in the VCC and 16-8 overall.

The Warriors will finish their regular season at home at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, against Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot.
