COURTLAND—The Southampton Academy boys’ basketball defeated Brunswick Academy 77-21 during a Virginia Commonwealth Conference game on Friday.

With the win SA avenged a 47-39 loss to Brunswick in December.

“Friday’s game really shows how far we have come as team this season,” said SA Coach Jim Tribbett.

The Raiders improve to 5-8 in the VCC and 11-8 overall.

Leaders for the winners were junior Tonee Hill who netted 23 points.

“Tonee sat out the fourth quarter,” Tribbett said. “We were not trying to run up the score.”

Junior Cam Hines added 16 points, while senior Zach Best had a season-high 15 points.

Junior Johnny Tribbett led the Raiders in assists and rebounds with 11 and seven, respectively

“We dressed nine players and everyone scored last to score was Johnny Tribbett with one point on a free-throw,” Tribbett said.

The Raiders went 30-of-36 from the free-throw line.

SA will next travel to Amelia Academy on Tuesday for a 7:30 p.m. VCC game.
