WAKEFIELD—Tidewater Academy boys’ basketball team lost 65-47 to visiting Amelia Academy in a Virginia Commonwealth Conference game on Tuesday.

TA seniors Hunter Haywood had 16 points and Marquel Saunders added 14 points.

“We had it down to seven points at one point in the second half,” said TA Coach Walter Westbrook. “Amelia is the number one team in the state. I was very proud of my team’s efforts for the whole game.”

Tidewater Academy is 8-3 in the conference and 15-7 overall.

Tidewater hosts Richmond Christian at 7:30 p.m.Friday, Feb. 8.
