IWA beats Atlantic Shores

ISLE OF WIGHT—Isle of Wight Academy senior Nathan Sivertson scored the game-winning basket at the buzzer in the Chargers’ 60-58 win over Metro Athletic Conference opponent Atlantic Shores Christian Tuesday.

Sivertson’s basket dealt Atlantic Shores its first conference loss of the season. It also gave the Chargers their first win in more than 20 contests against Atlantic Shores, since joining the MAC in 2002.

IWA improved its record to 7-3 in the MAC and 16-4 overall.

The teams were tied up at 38 points apiece at the end of the third quarter after the Chargers led 29-24 at halftime.

Sivertson also led the Chargers with 27 points; senior Hunter Triplett added 12 while he went 4-for-4 from the foul line. Senior Austin Rogers netted 11 points while going 3-for-3 from the foul line.

The Chargers will travel to Williamsburg Christian Academy for a 7 p.m. MAC game today, Feb. 1.
