WAKEFIELD—Tidewater Academy senior Hunter Haywood netted 24 points as he led the Warriors to an 62-39 win over Virginia Commonwealth Conference opponent Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot Friday.
“Played really well and we’re back healthy,” said TA Coach Walter Westbrook. “It was one of our better shooting games this year, and we played outstanding defense.”
The Warriors improved to 3-2 in the VCC and 8-6 overall.
Haywood also had seven rebounds. Senior Marquel Saunders added 13 points and six assists.
“Of the seven kids on my roster, all seven were major contributors Friday night,” Westbrook said. “It was a total team effort.”
The Warriors will host Kenston Forest for a 7:30 p.m. VCC game on Tuesday.
