BLACKSTONE—The Southampton Academy girls’ basketball team defeated Virginia Commonwealth Conference opponent Kenston Forest 43-34 on Thursday.
“We played a good game,” said SA Coach Chris Pope. “It’s tough going on the road sometimes. We did a good job of stretching the clock when we needed to, but overall it was a good game.”
Leaders for the winners were junior Anna Carr with 14 points; sophomore Sarah Best added 11. Senior Barclay Gatten and junior Morgan Pope scored 6 points apiece. Senior Kate Wachsmann pulled down 8 rebounds and Gatten grabbed 6.
