ISLE OF WIGHT—Host Isle of Wight Academy on Friday suffered its second conference loss of the year to Broadwater Academy.

Broadwater’s Michael Riopel, Jonathan McClaskey, Matthew McCaskill and Wesley Shrieves all scored in double figures to lead the Vikings to the 67-53 win.

“The Vikings conquered the Chargers with a balanced attack,” said IWA Coach Benjamin Vaughan.

IWA guard Austin Rogers led the Chargers with 18 points, and center Nathan Sivertson added 14.

Isle of Wight trailed 29-24 at the half, but couldn’t keep up with the Vikings in the third quarter.

“They trailed by as many as 17 and could get no closer than 11, which they did after Rainer Marfio hit a jumper to make it 49-38 with 1:12 left in the third period,” Vaughan said.

The Chargers fell to 11-3 overall and 3-2 in the Metro Athletic Conference. Broadwater improved to 7-2 and 5-1.
