COURTLAND—Halifax Academy girls’ basketball defeated Southampton Academy 58-45 in the second game of the annual Battle of the Border Tournament on Friday.

Leading the Lady Raiders were Sarah Best with 22 points; Barclay Gatten added 14 points and 8 rebounds.

“I thought we played well,” said SA Coach Chris Pope. “It was one of our better games. We were just overmatched.”

Southampton was 1-1 in the tournament, which did not name a winner. Other teams playing included Brunswick and Ridgecroft academies.

Southampton will play at 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4, at Brunswick Academy.
