Windsor girls remain winless

WINDSOR—The Windsor girls’ basketball team remains winless after losing 47-33 to Tri-Rivers District opponent Charles City on Tuesday.

Windsor is 0-7 overall and 0-2 in the district.

“We played hard,” said Windsor Coach Chuck Parrish. “We have to make open shots. We had plenty of open shots and just did not make them.”

The Lady Panthers opened the first quarter with a 12-6 lead. Windsor came back in the second quarter and trailed 12-14 with 4:17 remaining to the half. But from there the Lady Dukes had many opportunities to score, but could not capitalize on it. Windsor trailed 16-18 at the half.

The Panthers opened the third quarter on fire, pumping in 21 points to the Dukes’ 13. Panther Cheyenne Davis connected on four, 3-point baskets as the visitors opened their led to 39-29.

The Lady Dukes fought hard during the fourth quarter, but turnovers and missed shots resulted in only 4 points for the home team.

Tierra Rawls led Windsor with 8 points, including two, 3-pointers. Macayla Servais added 7.

The Dukes went 9-for-17 from the foul line.
