PETERSBURG—Six-foot-5 Windsor junior Romello McKiver scored 11 points and made 14 rebounds to lead the Dukes to a 58-39 win over Appomattox Regional Governor’s School on Tuesday.

“The boys played well to start the game, then we got a little tentative, but our leaders made a better defensive effort, and we were able to stop the Dragons’ second-quarter momentum,” said Windsor Coach Brandon Bossick.

Also during the Tri-Rivers District opener, junior Donovan Cosbert scored 12 points for the Dukes. Junior Justice Chapman added 10 points, 5 steals and 3 assists. Sophomore Malcolm Greene and junior Austin McKaskey had 10 rebounds each.

The boys at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, will host Tidewater Academy.
