COURTLAND—The Southampton Academy boys’ basketball team lost to Fuqua School 67-49 in Virginia Commonwealth Conference play on Monday.

“We played a pretty good game considering we are not at full strength,” said SA Coach Jim Tribbett.

The Raiders were without injured juniors Tonee Hill and Paul Parker.

The Raiders, who are 3-3 on the season, were led by junior Cameron Hines with 16 points; junior Johnny Tribbett added 9 points and 14 rebounds.

“Our goal is to get back to full strength over the next 10 days before our next game,” Tribbett said.

The Raiders will host the Battle of the Borders Tournament on Thursday, Dec. 20, and Friday, Dec. 21. The tournament will include Brunswick and Halifax academies and Ridgecroft.

In action from Friday, the Raiders lost to VCC opponent Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot 56-41.

Leaders for the Raiders were senior Zach Best and sophomore Matt Rose, both with 12 points.

Rose also had 8 rebounds.
