Walker Gillette to play in Charity Bowl

VIRGINIA BEACH—Franklin’s Walker Gillette, former NFL player and All-American at the University of Richmond, will play during the 45th annual Toyota Charity Bowl Football Game at 7:30 p.m. today, Nov. 30, at Princess Anne High School in Virginia Beach.
Tickets can be purchased at the gate for $10. Children 12 and under admitted free. All proceeds benefit The Joy Fund, which provides toys to underprivileged children in Hampton Roads.
Gillette, who attended Southampton High School, was drafted in 1970 during the first round by the San Diego Chargers and went on to play for the St. Louis Cardinals and New York Giants. While playing for Richmond, he was named the Most Valuable Player in the 1968 Tangerine Bowl with 20 receptions for 242 yards.
