Whitney Nicole Joyner and McKinley Ronell Majette married 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012, at Colossian Baptist Church in Newport News. The Rev. Joseph J. Ferguson officiated.

The bride is the daughter of Betty Scott Joyner of Franklin and the late Elder Linwood S. Joyner Sr. She is the granddaughter of Mary Ann Scott of Sedley and the late Bert Lee Scott Sr., and Mildred Joyner of Windsor and the late Elder Roland Joyner Sr.

The groom is the son of Patricia Davis and Ronald Majette of Franklin. He is the grandson of Dorothy Artis, the late McKinley Artis, and Betty Majette of Franklin and Leon Majette of Fort Washington, Md.

The bride was given away by her brother, Linwood Joyner Jr.

Maids of honor were Marlana Ashe and Lesley Brown.

Bridesmaids were Emekia Artis, Jacqueline Hines and Lawren Mayfield.

Maya Joyner was junior bridesmaid.

The flower girl was Aaliyah Scott.

Best men were Antonio Stokes and Montrell Faulcon.

Groomsmen were Emmett Artis III, Lavarius Majette and Michael Evans.

Jaelin Joyner was junior groomsman.

Darris Thomas Jr. was the ring bearer.

Hostesses were Marcia Scott, Stacey Garrett, Candice Joyner, Morgan Joyner, Autumn Joyner and Aysha Joyner. Armand Brown and Bobby Boone Jr. served as ushers.

A plated lunch reception was held at the Omni Hotel in Newport News and featured the Fuzz Band of Hampton and DJ Big Cire of Brandywine, Md.

The wedding colors were autumn hues of cognac, chocolate and champagne.

Pamela Scott and Natalie Joyner served as wedding directors.

On Sept. 21, a joint graduation/engagement party was hosted by the mothers of the bride and groom at Roger Brown’s Restaurant in Portsmouth.

On June 2, a bridal shower was hosted by the maids of honor at the home of Linwood and Natalie Joyner in Newport News.

On July 14, a celebration luncheon was hosted at Café Caturra in Arlington by Joyce Henderson and members of the Zeta Chi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority.

On July 28, a recipe shower was hosted by the mother of the bride at the home of Mary Ann Scott in Sedley.

On Aug. 18, a bridesmaids’ luncheon was hosted by Hyler Scott, aunt of the bride, at the Paul D. Camp Community College Suffolk Campus.

On Sept. 28, the rehearsal dinner was held at Colossian Baptist Church.

The new Mr. and Mrs. Majette honeymooned in Niagara Falls and will live in Alexandria.
