FARMVILLE—The Southampton High School Indians triumphed in overtime over Southside District opponent Prince Edward 28-26, for the regular season finale.

Southampton improves to 2-8 overall and 1-3 in the district.

“We played hard as a team,” said SHS head coach Wes Griffith.

Prince Edward jumped out to a big first-half lead, and the Indians went into the locker room at halftime down 20-6.

Southampton scored 14 unanswered second-half points, and the teams went into overtime tied 20-20.

The Indians were the first to score in overtime. On third and goal from Prince Edward’s 2 yard line, senior Trevoris Evans found the end zone on a 2 yard fullback dive. The 2 point conversion by senior Cecil Lowe was good, making the score 28-20.

Prince Edward scored a touchdown on their next possession, but a big defensive stop by the Indians prevented the Eagles from converting on their 2-point attempt.

The final score 28-26.

“We never gave up and kept plugging away and we were able to get the win at the end,” Griffith said.
