Windsor places second in district tournament

FRANKLIN—As of Tuesday, it was not known if the Windsor volleyball team would get into the regional playoffs after placing second in the Tri-Rivers District Tournament on Saturday.
Seeded No. 1, the Lady Dukes lost 3-1 to No. 2 Appomattox Regional Governor’s School in the title game. Earlier in the day, Windsor defeated ARGS 3-2 to determine tournament rankings.
The Lady Dukes are 13-8 overall.
In the earlier game, set scores were 25-27, 25-14, 18-25, 33-31 and 15-13.
Jessica Blythe had 33 assists and 7 digs for the winners. Allison Griggs made 8 kills and 4 digs, MaCayla Sevais had 9 digs and Kellie Matthews made 21 kills and 12 blocks.
Windsor defeated Surry in the first round of the tourney with set scores of 25-13, 25-20, 25-19.
Courtney Morrill had 10 assists and 5 aces for Windsor. Raegan Hasty had six kills and Payton Gay added 5.
Set scores were not available for the championship game against ARGS.
Matthews had 15 kills and 6 blocks, Morrill made 8 assists, Blythe had 17 assists, Griggs made 9 kills and 3 digs, and Leah Dreps had 4 kills and 2 blocks.
