SOUTH HILL—The Southampton High School volleyball team won the Southside District title after defeating host Park View in three sets Tuesday.

Set scores were 25-15, 25-23, 25-20. The Lady Indians improved to 18-2 overall and 10-0 in the district.

“With the district title wrapped up, we need to focus now on staying undefeated in the district so that we will have the opportunity to host the opening round of regionals,” said Southampton Coach Chad Brock.

As district winners, the Lady Indians qualified for region play, which opens on Tuesday, Nov. 6. They will play a team from either the Battlefield or Bay Rivers District.

This was third time this season Southampton has beaten Park View.

“They are a good test,” Brock said. “They have some size and good hitters to go along with great ball control. We need to continue to be pushed in the next three matches so that we are at the top of our game heading into regionals.”
