Windsor comes from behind to beat SA 3-2

COURTLAND—Windsor on Tuesday came from behind to defeat Southampton Academy 3-2.

Set scores were 12-25, 19-25, 25-23, 25-23, 16-14.

For the winners, Kellie Matthews led in kills with 19 and added 6 blocks. Jessica Blythe led in assists with 33. Allison Griggs had 8 kills, 4 blocks and 4 aces. MaCayla Sevais made 11 digs and Leah Dreps had 9 blocks.

For the Lady Raiders, junior Brooke Whitley had 22 kills and 9 blocks. Junior Katelyn Newsome made 16 kills and 9 blocks. Senior Whitely Smith had 45 assists and junior Kelsey Whitehead added 30 assists.

In action from Thursday, Windsor defeated district foe Surry 3-0. Set scores were 25-6, 25-9 and 25-15.

Blythe made 17 assists, Griggs had 7 kills and 2 aces, and Morgan Burkes made 7 aces. Also for the Lady Dukes, Kelsey Searcy had 4 aces and 2 kills, Kellie Matthews made 7 kills and 5 aces, and Dreps added 4 kills.

Windsor’s is 10-7 overall and remains at 6-1 in the Tri-Rivers District.
