SA improves to 8-2 with win

COURTLAND— Southampton Academy’s volleyball team defeated Kenston Forest 3-1 in a Virginia Commonwealth Conference match on Tuesday.
Set scores were 25-8, 25-8, 12-25, 27-25.
The Lady Raiders improved to 8-2 in the VCC and 9-4 overall.
Junior Katelyn Newsome had 12 kills and 6 blocks. Junior Brooke Whitley added 5 kills and 2 blocks.
“We played really well in the first two sets,” said SA Coach Frank Seal. “Kenston is a pretty good team. I knew if we didn’t play our game, they could of beat us.”
SA at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, will be at Richmond Christian for a VCC match.
“We have a lot to prove tomorrow night,” said Seal. “It will prove where we are as a team.”
