WINDSOR—The Windsor Dukes lost a tough-fought home game against the Washington & Lee Eagles Friday in a non-district contest.

The score was 31-9. The Dukes fell to 2-4.

“We played hard in the second half,” said Windsor Head Coach Chuck Parrish . “(In the) first half we kind of hurt ourselves, but made some nice defensive stops early on, I can’t say it enough; our kids fought hard to keep themselves in the game.”

Despite being down 19-0 at the half, the Dukes’ defense came up with major stops in the second half including a safety with 6:40 left in the game making the score 25-2 and giving Windsor momentum for their only offensive score on the evening.

“The kids kept playing, they just kept fighting,” said Parrish. “That’s the thing about our team. They play hard. We just have to cut the mistakes; we are hurting ourselves with penalties.”

The Dukes scored with 2:44 left in the game when quarterback Justice Chapman connected with tight end Woody Greene on a 3-yard pass, capping off a 46-yard drive. The point after by Tyler Fontenot was good.

The drive began after the Eagles free kick from the safety.

Top players for the Dukes were Chapman who went 13-for-23 for 114 yards had one touchdown and one interception. Chapman’s favorite target of the night was Caleb Dundlow, who had 10 catches for 66 yards. The Dukes defense held the Eagles to 234 yards of total offense, while the Dukes had 194 yards of total offense.
