FARMVILLE—Southampton High School senior Tabbitha Bruck took first during Wednesday’s Southside District cross country meet, leading the Lady Indians to a second-place finish behind Park View and ahead of Greensville.

The Southampton boys for the fourth time this season took first overall, defeating Greensville, Prince Edward and Park View.

“We have four meets remaining to determine the district champions,” said Southampton Coach Scott Edwards. “We go to Park View next week, and it is a must win for both teams.”

The boys are in first place in the district and the girls are in second.

Other top runners from Wednesday for the Lady Indians were Holley Moore sixth, Kelsey Thomas seventh, Jessica Fox ninth, Mary Hudgins 10th, Sarah Giorgi 12th, Megan Owens 14th and Amber Gurganus 15th.

“Some of the girls didn’t do as well yesterday,” Edwards said.
