SOUTH HILL—Southampton High School girls’ volleyball team improved to 2-0 in the Southside District after defeating Park View in three games on Wednesday.

Set scores were 26-24, 25-21, 25-23.

“I got a huge game from all of the girls,” said SHS Coach Chad Brock. “We got down early in the first set and had to play our way back into it. They are a good team and don’t give away points.”

The Lady Indians took an early lead in the second set until there was a long delay over two disputed calls, Brock said.

“We let them back in it, but again we fought back and took the second set,” he said. “We had to earn everything we got. We make mistakes sometimes, but there is no quit in this team.”

Juniors Madison Cabell had one ace, 12 kills and one block; Madeleine Kahle had four aces and 15 kills; Grayson Drake had three aces, 19 assists and seven kills; and Samantha Billups had two aces, 15 assists and four kills.

Southampton is 8-2 overall.

The junior varsity Lady Indians lost in two sets.
