Bruck wins race nearly three minutes ahead of second-place runner

SOUTH HILL—Southampton High School senior Tabitha Bruck took first during Wednesday’s cross county meeting, finishing two minutes and 40 seconds before the second-place runner.

Bruck ran the race in 24:06, leading the Lady Indians to a second-place overall Southside District finish. The girls were five points behind first-place Park View. Greensville took third.

Other top runners for Southampton were freshman Jessica Fox in fifth, freshman Mary Hudgins seventh, junior Holly Moore eighth, freshman Sarah Giorgi 10th, junior Amber Gurganus 15th and senior Megan Owens 16th.

The boys won their second meet of the season in the Southside District.

Top runners were senior Daniel Lowdermilk, second with a time of 20:52; junior Kevin Watford, fifth at 22:06; sophomore Forrest South, seventh at 22:41; freshman Cole Jarratt, eighth at 23:08; sophomore Devon Hacker, 12th at 24:31; sophomore Enoch Westover, 13th at 24:41; and sophomore Cameron McHenry, 17th at 25:36.

Greensville took second for the boys followed by Prince Edward in third and host Park View in fourth.
