FARMVILLE—The Southampton High School boys and girls won their opening Southside District cross country meets on Wednesday at Prince Edward.

“It was a great result for us, but we still need improvement,” said Southampton Coach Scott Edwards. “Our times weren’t where they should be for this part of the season.”

Daniel Lowdermilk took second overall for the Indians with Kevin Watford placing fifth, Forrest South sixth, Cole Jarratt eighth, Alex Dunlow ninth, Enoch Westover 13th and Devon Hacker 16th.

Leading the Lady Indians were Tabitha Bruck first, Jessica Fox third, Mary Hudgins fourth, Holley Moore seventh, Sarah Giorgi 10th, Amber Gurganus 11th and Megan Owens 13th.

In the boys’ meet, the team from Greensville placed second and Prince Edward third. Park View did not have enough boys for a team score.

In the girls’ meet, Park View took second and Greensville third. Prince Edward does not have a girls’ team.

The Indians will run at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5, at Park View.
