Raulston ranked 19th in nation

FREDERICKSBURG—Franklin’s Lindsay Raulston has been ranked 19th in the nation in the NCAA Division II women’s tennis end-of-the-year rankings.

A 2010 graduate of Southampton Academy, Raulston was also named an All-American.

She ended the year 25-4 while playing No. 1 singles for University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg. A sophomore biology major, Raulston also ended the year ranked No. 6 in women’s singles in the Atlantic South Region.

She was invited to the NCAA singles tournament this year, where she lost to a player from the 2012 national championship team, Williams College, 6-3, 6-4.

During her freshman year at Mary Washington, Raulston was named Rookie of the Year in the Capital Athletic Conference. She went 17-2 in singles and moved from the No. 5 seed for the Eagles to the No. 3 seed. Raulston was 14-7 in doubles action. She started the year on the No. 3 seed doubles team, but moved up to the No. 2 seed.

She is the daughter of Sheryl and Hugh Raulston and took lessons from Ken Cussick, the tennis pro for James L. Camp Jr. YMCA and Cypress Cove Country Club.
