Windsor soccer team wins district tourney title

WINDSOR—The top-seeded Windsor soccer team defeated No. 2 Appomattox Regional Governor’s School to take the Tri-Rivers District Tournament title on Thursday.

The Dukes improved to 15-1 and will host Nandua at 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 29, for the opening of the region tournament.

“We did win, though it was hard fought,” said Windsor Coach Matt Burgess.

At the half, the match was tied 1-1. Ryan Brant scored the first goal for the Dukes.

In the second half Brant scored on an assist by Nick Powell and Mack Turner scored in the last five minutes to end it 3-1.

Blake Allen kept ARGS from adding to the score with 12 saves.
