Southampton Storm 14U wins Mother’s Day Mayhem

ELIZABETH CITY, N.C.—Southampton Storm 14U defeated Virginia Legends-Elite 7-2 to win the Gold Division of the PONY Mother’s Day Mayhem tournament in Elizabeth City, N.C., on May 12.

Katelyn Cobb was named Most Valuable Player after hitting two home runs — one in the semi-final game against Orion Hunter and one in the championship game.

The winning pitcher for the title game was Kelby Lewis of Boykins. Middle infielders August Ringer and Allie Holt led the defense.

The semi-final game was the toughest game of the day and was won in the last inning thanks to at-bats by Cobb, Brittany Wade, Viviana Martinez, Audrey Armstrong.

The winning run came from a walk-off single by Lewis and pinch-runner Audra Nahrebecki. Bailey Griffin and Katelyn Cobb pitched.

Katie Peelen pitched a near perfect game against the NC Intensity.

Southampton Storm Fast-pitch is a travel team with players from Franklin and Suffolk, and Southampton, Prince George, Dinwiddie, Sussex and Isle of Wight counties.
