EMPORIA—Southampton High School’s Kirstyn Andrew won the 800-meter run during the Southside District Track Meet and qualified for the Region I Track and Field Championship.

Andrew also ran a leg of the winning 4X400-meter relay team along with Jessica Heiser, Eve Robertson and Kelsey Thomas.

The girls’ team placed fourth overall at the meet and the boys, fifth.

Others qualifying for the region meet on Thursday, May 24, in Culpeper were:

* 800-Meter Run—Robertson second

* 400-Meter Run—Robertson fourth, Thomas fifth

 

BOYS

* 400-Meter Run—Treyshawn Chappell third, Coby Williams sixth

* 4x400m Relay—Darius Artis, Williams, Chappell, Saquan Fenner third

* 1600-Meter Run—Dylan Thomas fifth

* Long Jump—Fenner sixth
