SHS baseball team improves to 12-1

COURTLAND—The Southampton High School baseball team improved to 12-1 overall and 7-1 in the Southside District after defeating Prince Edward 11-1 in six innings at home on Tuesday.

Junior right-hander Josh Riddick picked up his third win of the season, striking out 10 and giving up two hits in five innings. Sophomore Hayden Spalding finished the game. Indians Jake Pope and Jack Bunn both tallied three hits. Riddick, Tony Cobb and Hayden Spalding added two hits a piece.

The Indians scored three runs in the third inning, six in the fourth and two in the sixth. The Eagles scored one in the third.

Southampton tallied 15 hits and made 1 error. The Eagles managed 2 hits and made 3 errors.
