SA earns bye in first round of VCC tournament

COURTLAND—Southampton Academy’s baseball team got a bye in the first round of the Virginia Commonwealth Conference tournament on Tuesday and will play at 4:30 p.m. Friday, May 11, in the semifinals at Tidewater Academy.

The second-seeded Raiders will play either Fuqua School or Kenston Forest.

During the final game of the regular season, SA lost 7-2 to Blessed Sacrament Huguenot. The Raiders had four hits compared to their opponents’ nine.

Matt Nixon earned an RBI by scoring Dillon Matthews, and Sean Raulston picked up an RBI when Carson Camp scored.

The winning pitcher was Nathaniel Settle, and the losing pitcher was Jacob Holland.
