Southampton Storm places second in tourney

VIRGINIA BEACH—Southampton Storm 12U placed second in the Silver Bracket at the 2012 Softball Nation Tidewater Opener in Virginia Beach on March 17 and 18.

The tournament hosted 26 teams in the 14U and 12U age divisions.
Southampton Storm 12U went 1-2 on Saturday in games against Carolina Fear, Elite Fast-pitch and Richmond Ruckus. On Sunday, the Storm defeated the VA Lady Eagles 8-5. In the championship game, the Storm lost 12-5 to the Hampton Road Warriors.
“The girls have worked really hard in the off-season and I am very pleased with their performance,” said Storm Head Coach Ronnie Vincent. “We have areas we need to work on, just as any team does. We are looking forward to a great season with this group of girls.”
Southampton Storm Fast-pitch is a travel team with players from Franklin, Southampton County, Sussex, Windsor and Suffolk.
