Pitcher Tonee Hill picked up the win after five innings of work. Jacob Holland relieved Hill.

Daniel McKenney pitched three innings for the Warriors and was relieved by Michael Webb, the losing pitcher.

TA’s Matt Irving went two-for-three in the loss. Holland hit a double.

A home run by the Irving put TA on the board first at 2-0.

Hill got on base with a fielder’s choice in the bottom of the third and scored on a Carson Camp base hit that closed the gap 2-1 in favor of the Warriors.

Joey King scored in the fourth inning for the Warriors to give them a 3-1 lead.

The Raiders benefited from a strong fifth inning. Matt Nixon was walked and took second on a passed ball. He then scored on a Hill base hit.

Camp got a single and stole second base before Wesley Barnes hit a single to advance Camp to third and score Hill.

Holland hit a deep fly ball into right that scored a tagging Camp.

In other action, Tidewater Academy lost its second straight game after starting the season 4-0 with a 7-6 loss to Fuqua Wednesday in Farmville.

The loss drops the Warriors to 4-2 and 2-2 in the conference.

Coach Paul Rodgers blamed the loss on the Warriors’ four errors.

“If we’d only made three errors we would’ve won, but that’s the way it goes,” Rodgers said.

Irving hit and double and drove in two runs.

Pitcher Peyton Holdsworth was saddled with the loss after pitching six and a third innings. Caleb Atkins came in relief.

Tidewater Academy will take on First Baptist at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 31, in Wakefield.
