WINDSOR—Mason Wright’s two home runs and Zach Vann’s six strikeouts over four innings led to Southampton High School blanking host Windsor 12-0 in five innings during the non-district game on Thursday.

The Indians had 14 hits in their season opener to Windsor’s four.

Southampton’s Hayden Spalding got on base in the first hitting after being hit by a pitch. Spalding moved to second on Wright’s sacrifice bunt down the first baseline, stole third and advanced home on a passed ball.

In the third inning, Wright led with a line drive over the left field fence. Tanner Winters followed with a double, but was stranded on third after a strikeout and two groundballs.

Wright in the fourth inning hit his second home run to left field, plating Tony Cobb. The Indians sealed the game in the fifth as they scored eight runs on four hits.

Winters came on in the fifth to finish the last three batters for the Dukes.

Vann walked one for the win.

Windsor will visit Southampton at 4 p.m. Monday, March 19.
