SA notches third softball win

FARMVILLE—Southampton Academy took Fuqua batters down in order during the last four innings of Thursday’s softball game and came home with a 6-4 Virginia Commonwealth Conference win.

The Lady Raiders improved to 3-0 and 2-0 in the league.

“We had a shaky start, but they settled down,” said SA Coach Jeb Bradshaw.

The Lady Raiders fell behind 3-0 and tied up the game in the fourth inning. Senior Beth Waller’s RBI in the sixth inning gave SA a 5-4 lead.

Senior Briggitte Bradshaw had two RBIs and senior Rachel Holland got on base with two hits and an error.

The Lady Raiders will host Kenston Forest at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 20.
