McKenney, Haywood hit home runs in TA win

BLACKSTONE—The Tidewater Academy baseball team won its season opener 13-2 over short-handed Kenston Forest Wednesday.
Hunter Haywood hit a solo home run and went one-for-three at the plate in the Virginia Commonwealth Conference win.
Teammate Daniel McKenney went two-for-four with a home run, a double, two runs and two RBIs, while Peyton Holds-worth went two-for-three with two doubles and three RBIs.
Haywood got the win, pitching three innings and giving up one unearned run and one hit. McKenney gave up one hit and one unearned run in two innings of relief.
The Warriors had two errors that led to the Kavaliers’ runs.
TA played Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot Thursday. Results were not available as of press-time.
