WAKEFIELD—The Tidewater Academy boys’ basketball team ended Southampton Academy’s season with a 63-36 victory in the first round of the Virginia Commonwealth Conference Tournament.

The Warriors will face Kenston Forest in the semifinals at 8:15 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24, at Richard Bland College in Petersburg.

“We played well and we shot the ball extremely well,” said TA Coach Walter Westbrook. “When you get four players in double figures it really helps.”

Westbrook said they called the VCC Tournament the start of a new season where everybody starts with no wins or losses and the team played refreshed.

“I’ve been really impressed with this group,” he said.
