SA boys to face Tidewater Academy tonight

COURTLAND—The No. 7 Southampton Academy boys’ basketball team will take on No. 2 Tidewater Academy in the first round of the Virginia Commonwealth Conference Tournament.
The game will be played at 7 tonight, Feb. 21, in Wakefield.
In related news, Southampton Academy lost 71-68 to Richmond Christian on Friday.
Richmond Christian took a 19-8 lead going into the second half. The Raiders made adjustments in the second quarter and outscored Richmond Christian 20-15 to trail 34-28 at halftime.
SA outscored Richmond Christian 21-16 in the third quarter to trail 51-50 at the start of the fourth quarter. The lead changed three times in the fourth quarter before a Raiders’ missed three-point attempt gave Richmond Christian the win.
“The guys played their hearts out and gave it everything they had,” said SA Coach David Gibbs. “I’ve very proud of the team. They fought hard.”
Carson Camp led the team with 27 points, three assists and four rebounds in the loss while Tonee Hill scored 18 points and grabbed 17 rebounds.
