SA girls win conference game

FARMVILLE—Southampton Academy girls beat Virginia Commonwealth Conference foe Fuqua School 49-30 Monday night.

“We played really well,” Coach Chris Pope said. “We came out shooting extremely well.”

Rachel Holland led the Lady Raiders with 16 points, followed by Kaylee Lass with nine and Beth Waller with eight.

SA led 26-20 at the half, and the Lady Raiders scored 16 in the fourth quarter.

The win moves SA to 12-4 overall and 9-4 in the VCC.

The Lady Raiders played Brunswick Academy on Thursday. As of press time, results weren’t available.
