Lady Broncos remain winless

EMPORIA—The Franklin High School girls’ basketball team held its own in the first half against Greensville County on Wednesday night but could not prevent a 32-point onslaught by the host school in the second half.
Franklin lost 52-16.
Quantasia Clemons scored 11 to lead the Lady Broncos. Breia Walloe and Aerial Darden combined for the other 5 points.
On Tuesday, Windsor High defeated Franklin 54-29 in a Tri-Rivers District game.
Lyntroya Bagby scored 9 points for Franklin, and Walloe added 7 points and 12 rebounds. Darden scored 4 points and 6 rebounds, while newcomer Shaterra Murphy pulled in 6 rebounds.
The Windsor coach did not provide results.
In junior varsity action, Windsor defeated Franklin 25-21.
Lady Bronco Jayla Cross scored 10 points. Teammate Amirah Stephens pulled down 7 rebounds and Josephine Rankin snagged 6. Kaylin Jordon scored 5 points in the loss.
No Windsor results were available.
The Windsor girls will travel to Surry for a 5:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13, game.
In action on Thursday, Jan. 5, Clemons scored 8 points and pulled in 4 rebounds, but the Lady Broncos lost 48-24 to Sussex Central in a Tri-Rivers District road game.
Walloe, Darden and Bagby each added 4 points for the Lady Broncos. Janesha Hurdle had 8 rebounds, Darden 7 and Walloe 6.
The FHS junior varsity girls lost 27-22 to Sussex.
Leading the Lady Broncos was Jayla Cross with 7 points and 5 rebounds. Latrina Cross scored 6 points and 4 rebounds.
