POWHATAN-The Southampton Academy Raiders picked up their first win of the season with an 82-79 overtime victory over Blessed Sacrament Huguenot Dec. 9.

The Knights led 37-33 at halftime and the Raiders trailed by three points at the end of the third quarter before tying the game up 71-71 at the end of regulation. The Raiders outscored the Knights 11-8 in overtime to take the win.

The Raiders were led by Tonee Hill with 23 points, 11 rebounds and two steals. Carson Camp added 22 points, Thomas Taylor had 17 points, 8 rebounds and Matt Nixon added 14 points and 7 steals.

Coach David Gibbs said the team was able to make adjustments after trailing at the end of the first half.

Gibbs said the defense had 15 steals and forced the Knights into bad shots in the second half.

The win moves Southampton Academy to 1-2 overall on the season and in the Virginia Commonwealth Conference.

The Raiders take on Steward School at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, in Richmond.
