COURTLAND—Rachel Holland’s 26 points helped Southampton Academy defeat Virginia Commonwealth Conference foe Blessed Sacrament Huguenot 50-27 on Thursday.

Beth Waller added 10 points and Kaylee Lass had eight points in the win.

“I think we played a pretty good game,” Lady Raider Coach Chris Pope said.

Pope said the team shot around 35 percent for the game, but had a good performance on the offensive boards.

The win moves the Lady Raiders to 3-1 overall and in the VCC.

Southampton Academy will host a two-day Christmas tournament starting Wednesday, Dec. 21.

Boys and girls teams from Southampton, Brunswick, Northeast and Ridgecroft academies will participate.
