IWA loses 27-14 to Atlantic Shores

VIRGINIA BEACH—Despite a combined 192 yards rushing, Isle of Wight Academy lost 27-14 to non-conference Atlantic Shores Saturday.

The Chargers fall to 7-2 overall. Atlantic Shores finished the season 5-5 overall.

IWA opened the scoring on its first drive. Senior quarterback Ben Epps found the end zone from five yards out. A Josh Weihe kick gave the Chargers the lead at 7-0.

After Atlantic Shores scored on its next drive, a six-yard run by Epps and a Weihe kick gave the Chargers the lead at 14-7 in the second quarter. The Seahawks tied the score at 14-14 on a 55-yard pass play. The kick was good.

The Seahawks broke a 14-14 halftime tie with a 27-yard pass play in the third quarter. Atlantic Shores took a 21-14 lead with the extra point.

Atlantic Shores scored with 6:07 left to put the game away at 27-14.

Epps finished the game with 11 rushes for 49 yards. Teammate Matt Brummett added 46 yards on eight carries. Epps completed five of 11 passes for 47 yards.
