TA drops fourth game of season

CHESTERFIELD—Tidewater Academy volleyball dropped to 11-4 on the season with a loss to Richmond Christian on Tuesday.

Richmond Christian swept the Lady Warriors 25-17, 25-22 and 25-22. It was Tidewater’s second straight loss going into a match against Virginia Commonwealth Conference foe Southampton Academy that took place Thursday evening in Courtland. Results were not available as of press time.

“Right now we have to forget the last two games we lost and keep our head in the game against Southampton Academy,” Coach Amanda Binford said. “I’m happy with this season and I’ve had a really good team to coach.”

Cary Beahm had four kills and two blocks in the loss, Taylor Pruitt had four kills and three aces. Falon Williams and Courtney Heywood had one kill each. Tyler Stephenson and Samantha Dunn had four assists each.

The top four teams in the VCC host quarterfinal matches, Tidewater sits in second place and would host a quarterfinal match on Tuesday, Nov. 1. The semifinals and finals will take place at Fuqua School in Farmville.
