Southampton Storm qualifies for softball World Series

NEWPORT NEWS—Southampton Storm Fast-pitch 16U travel team qualified for the 2012 NSA World Series after taking third in the Season Fall Finale tournament on Saturday and Sunday.

Southampton Storm Fast-pitch 16U members who qualified for the 2012 NSA World Series over the weekend were, from left in front, Haley Boykin, Chelsea Pinner, August Ringer, Shelby Billups and Demone Brickhouse; second row, Bailey Griffin, Sally Vick, Brittany Wade, Molly Langford and Chelsea Burks; and in back, Coach Sean Wade, Kaylee Harris, Emily Nelson, Assistant Coach Michael Griffin, Ashlee Buehner and Assistant Coach Robin Pinner. -- SUBMITTED

On Saturday, the Storm defeated Team Dynasty 4-0 and James River Rage 7-1 and lost to the Triple Threat Lady Tigers. On Sunday, the Storm team defeated the Williamsburg Starz in the quarterfinals 9-1 and lost in the semifinals to Galaxy 2-0.

Team members are Shelby Billups, Haley Boykin, Heather Bradshaw, Emily Nelson, Demone Brickhouse, Kaylee Harris, Sierra Johnson, Ashley Buehner, Sally Vick and Chelsea Pinner, all of Southampton; Chelsea Burks of Isle of Wight Academy; Lacoura Ellis of Sussex Central; and Molly Langford of Richmond Christian.

Southampton Storm 14U team members Bailey Griffin and August Ringer, both from Southampton, and Brittany Wade from Tidewater Academy also played.

The team is managed by Sean Wade. Assistant coaches are Kyle Boykin, Michael Griffin, Clif Johnson and Robin Pinner.
