SHS girls 12-0 on season after 3-0 win over Greensville

Southampton High School girls’ volleyball team remains undefeated after beating Greensville 25-18, 25-16, 25-17 on Thursday.

The Lady Indians improved to 12-0 and 5-0 in the Southside District.

Leading were Marisa Cabell with eight kills, one ace; her sister, Madison Cabell, four kills, one ace; Kaylee Edwards, five kills, two aces; and Candace Earls, seven assists, five aces and two kills. For Greensville, Amanda Earp went 11-11 serving and D’Jsha Daniels was 9-9.

“I feel like we are finally beginning to play to our ability level,” said Southampton Coach Chad Brock. “I was very pleased with what I saw from our team tonight. If we continue to play at this level, we will have a very successful season. We have four more matches before the district tournament the first week of November.”

“I have been blessed with talented athletes and this team supports each other better than any other I have been associated with,” Brock added.

The junior varsity squad won 25-17, 25-16

Lindsey Harrup led with six kills; Sam Billups had eight assists, two kills and three aces. Mikayla Clarke made six aces, four assists and two kills, and Nadia Purvis had four kills and one ace.
