IWA crushes Carlisle 44-0

ISLE OF WIGHT-Isle of Wight freshman kicker Josh Weihe went 5-for-6 in extra points and scored a 33-yard field goal to contribute to the Chargers’ 44-0 romping over Carlisle on Friday night.

IWA improved to 5-1 on the seasoon after the non-conference win.

Host IWA had 330 yards on offense to the Chiefs’ 69.

Leading IWA rusher was Zeb Warnick, carrying the ball 10 times for 102 yards and one touchdown. Quarterback Ben Epps added 62 yards on seven carries and one touchdown.

IWA’s Matt Bratton accumulated 100 yards on three plays, including a 30-yard touchdown run and a 51-yard reception.

Epps went 4-for-5 for 79 yards.

Bratton opened scoring with his 30-yard run with 10:31 left in the first quarter. Weihe’s kick was good.

Three minutes later, Warnick scored on a 25-yard run. Weihe’s kick was good.

Corey Wills scored on a 16-yard with 11:49 left in the second quarter. Weihe’s kick was good.

Weihe followed six minutes later with his field goal.

Epps then scampered for 40 yards for a touchdown with 2:11 left in the half. Weihe’s kick was good.

Matt Brummett intercepted the ball for a 45-yard touchdown with 10:30 left in the third quarter. The kick failed.

Greg Chaffer scored the final touchdown on a five-yard run. Weihe’s kick was good.
