FRANKLIN—The Franklin Mustangs improved their record to 2-0 with a 14-0 shutout of the Boykins Bulldogs on Oct. 5 at Armory Field.
The Mustangs defeated the Courtland Indians 34-0 Oct. 3.
Raquan Parker, Tyeon Ruffin and Ryan Aywald led the Franklin offense during both games. Parker also completed two passes on Oct. 5 to Tyler Dodson for 20 yards.
Ruffin led with 80 yards rushing.
The Mustang defense was led by Fredquan Lassiter, Lynn Lawson and Qurion Newsome.
Parker intercepted a Bulldog pass late in the fourth quarter to help preserve the shutout for Franklin.
“We are young in some places and it shows, but we have some guys playing in skilled positions that are getting the job done so far,” said Mustang Coach Rob Carter. “Our offensive line is getting a little better. Jonathan Hall our center is doing a fine job, and I’m very proud of him.”
The Mustangs will play last year’s league champion Holland Razorbacks at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13. The Razorbacks are sporting a 2-0 record, and beat Boykins 7-6 Oct. 3 and the Windsor Knights on Oct. 5.
“All I can say is that we will show up in Windsor next week and try to give them a game, I hope,” Carter said.
All games will be played at Windsor High School with the first contest a 6 p.m. and the Courtland
Indians playing Windsor at 8 p.m.
