Edwards scores three TDs for SA 58-6 romping

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C.—Southampton Academy freshman Ethan Edwards rushed for 130 yards and three touchdowns for the Raiders’ 58-6 romping over Rocky Mount Friday night.

The Raiders improved their record to 4-1 in the Colonial Carolina Conference.

Also for Southampton Academy, freshman Tonee Hill scored on a 72-yard run and an 18-yard reception from senior Wesley Barnes.

Barnes also threw a 70-yard touchdown pass to senior Matt Nixon.

Other Raiders who scored were Barnes on a 49-yard run and sophomore Matt Rose on a 30-yard run.

The Raiders rushed 27 times for 365 yards, while Rocky Mount ran the ball 29 times for 104 yards. Southampton passed three times for 112 yards and Rocky Mount passed six times for 24 yards.

The Raiders scored 24 in the first quarter before Rocky Mount got its only touchdown. Southampton added 16 in the second quarter, 12 in the third and 6 in the last.

The Raiders will host Parrott Academy at 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, for its homecoming.
